Google Calendar and Contacts (pending authorization)
Google access is not enabled. It will be turned on only after the owner authorizes it through Google's consent screen and the Google privacy controls described in the privacy policy are in place.
When connected, Barclay will be able to:
- read relevant events from the configured personal calendar;
- create ordinary events on that calendar;
- propose deletion of a selected event, which happens only after a separate explicit confirmation;
- search Google Contacts for names, email addresses and phone numbers. Contact access is read-only; Barclay does not create, edit or delete contacts.
The owner chooses whether to authorize Google access. Barclay requests the openid, email, calendar.events.owned and contacts.readonly permissions. Google's Calendar permission covers events on calendars the account owns; Barclay's own checks limit it to the owner's personal account and the configured private calendar, and Google's broader consent does not authorize it to use other calendars.
How requests are processed
Barclay runs on a backend controlled by the owner. When Google access is enabled, requests that use Google information will be answered only through the commercial Anthropic API, with alternate model routes and external web search blocked for that information. External voice will be unavailable in that mode, so calendar and contact requests will use text. Barclay's existing voice service uses ElevenLabs separately.
The privacy policy covers storage, provider processing, revocation and deletion.
